Kortrijk 1302 is an interactive and multimedia museum for young and old alike that tells you about the Battle of the Golden Spurs (11 July 1302). Here you can touch the coats of mail, swords and goedendags, you can see the leading figures involved in the conflict come to life again, and you can follow the course of the battle on a gigantic scale model. The narrator is Gilles Le Muisit, the old Abbot of the Abbey of St Martin. He takes you back in time and is your guide on a fascinating voyage of discovery through seven centuries of history. To conclude, you will watch an exciting film which explains how various traditions were shaped around 1302 and the role this played in the development of a national consciousness.
